A Matter Of Inches

23 week old fetus23 week old fetus-->

This makes perfect sense to me.

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

Even pro-choice groups are expressing "concern".

"It really disturbed me," said Joanne Sterner, president of the Broward County chapter of the National Organization for Women, after reviewing the administrative complaint against Renelique. "I know that there are clinics out there like this. And I hope that we can keep (women) from going to these types of clinics."

She's concerned alright--concerned about the political fallout for what is tantamount to statutory murder. But should we be shocked? The mother went to a clinic whose function is to terminate the life of an unwanted child. The objective was that the child die under legal circumstances--in the womb. It was literally a matter of inches between a legal abortion and an illegal murder.

The event demonstrates how tortured the argument about abortion is. I can't see the difference and let's be clear--neither could the medical assistant who bagged and dumped the child. When you can accept the idea that someone should die because they are an inconvenience in your life, then all sorts of acts become possible.

Three year old Kaylee Anthony was cramping her mother's style, so she also was bagged and dumped. I am amazed when I hear people asking how anyone could do anything like this--22% of all pregnancies end in abortion in this country--over a million a year. 50 million since Roe v. Wade made it legal. That's 50 million times a woman said, "the kid is cramping my style--its gotta go."

If you think about it, isn't that what murder is? Getting rid of someone who is cramping your style?

Stem Cell Transplant Cures HIV

Well you know why this made the news...

A 42-year-old HIV patient with leukemia appears to have no detectable HIV in his blood and no symptoms after a stem cell transplant from a donor carrying a gene mutation that confers natural resistance to the virus that causes AIDS, according to a report published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

"The patient is fine," said Dr. Gero Hutter of Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin in Germany. "Today, two years after his transplantation, he is still without any signs of HIV disease and without antiretroviral medication."

The article mentions that the transplant is so risky that a 1/3 of patients die from the procedure, so clearly its no panacea, but that not why its news.

He was cured by STEM CELLS.

Yet nowhere in the article is explicitly mentioned that they are adult and not embryonic stem cells. You have to infer that from the fact that its a marrow transplant.

The vast deficiency in critical reading skills in the American public makes these stories useful political fodder for the abortion industrialists.

Countdown

nutallyfinal.jpgSTUPAK HAS ANNOUNCED HE'LL VOTE YES. IN A FEW MINUTES, THE US BECOMES A SOCIALIST COUNTRY.

Fox is reporting a tally that suggests that by one vote, Pelosi can pass the bill. That's a guess, not a fact or else they would have had the vote already.

As of last night there were still 20 undecided Democrats, so this is more of Pelosi's 'air of inevitability meme' in action.

I should stress that no one in the media really knows what is going on, and the honest ones are admitting as much. The scenarios are that Pelosi has the votes and is just trying to pad the outcome, or she doesn't have the votes and is scrambling to get them

Its already 2:00 PM EST time and no vote yet.

Reports are that Pelosi is actively negotiating with Stupak, which suggests to me that she doesn't have the votes. It makes sense to go back to Stupak at this point and confront him with the reality that he and his gang will bear the responsibility for killing the bill. His career as a Democrat politician would be permanently over. Of course, if he votes YES, the outcome will almost certainly be the same. I don't know how he comes down on this, but if I was given a choice of political deaths--dying for principle sounds a lot better than dying as a Judas goat. He might also have the option of switching parties.
