Daniel Hannan has written a mea culpa: "I admit it: I was wrong to have supported Barack Obama".
My comment:
Sorry that this sounds snooty, but your post is better analysed by a psychologist than a bloggologist. To touch on one claim - "Obama was dealt a rotten economic hand." No, he was a major promoter and beneficiary of Fannie and Freddie, the CRA and mega-Government which are the principal causes of what went wrong. Obama is the poop, not the scoop. That was obvious all along, so that someone of your excellence (I mean it) could only have been self-duped. That is what you need to acknowledge - that you wanted Obama to be the One for psychological motivations which met at the intersection of many other self-dupes' motivations.

He's probably an elitist snob like Christopher Buckley. True, the economy was bad; however, it was not the hand that he was dealt as much as what he did with the hand he was dealt. One thing's for sure, his presidency's sure flushing out the Socialists. Even Hillary's showing her true colors: The rich aren't paying their fair share. What a joke she's become.

Right on the "Mark". Those experiencing buyer's remorse at this point are embarrassed at their emotional embrace of what in retrospect is a clear and unambiguous disaster of a candidate.
Unlike Europe, where the support of the left is often a matter of preserving one's own entitlements, support for Obama was--to use an archaic phrase--'white guilt'. A way to express one's moral superiority. Its why Obama's support is so soft--42% approval today and falling. I'm a couple of months off, but he'll be below forty within weeks. As it stands, he's now a political cripple.
