I don't think I've ever seen Robert Gibbs so uncomfortable and the White House press corp so focused, animated and relentless in trying to get some answers.
The administration has announced that they are postponing, for three months, the trip to Indonesia, which most people are taking to be a tacit admission that things are not going well in the vote round-up and Obama needs to stick around and give some more airplane rides to uncooperative Congresspersons.
Word is that Pelosi whip team are even talking to Republicans at this point--never a good sign.
Word that the Dems are working on the only Republican to support the House Bill, Representative Cao from New Orleans, is also a sign that things are amiss in the Obama camp. Word that Massachusetts union lackey Stephen Lynch is a "no" is not a good sign. So while there is a sound and fury coming from the Dem camp, does it really signify anything?
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score may be out now (earlier comments that it was out were false--what we had was a leak, not an official release). There are lots of amusing--darkly amusing--things in the CBO report, but most ironic was the fact that it projects budgets out to twenty years.
Meanwhile, in the White House gardens, Obama was hedging his bets on when he expected that the economy would start creating jobs again, using terms like 'might' and 'hope'. Apparently Obama has no idea what the economy is going to be doing in the next year or two, but he can tell you what future legislatures will do and what budgets will look like 20 years from now. I'll have a look around the sinestrosphere to see who if anyone on the left is defending this crap.
